United Medicare originally began as a medical doctor recruitment agency and DBS umbrella body. Formed in 2001 by a doctor who still practises in the NHS today, we grew from providing CRB (now DBS) checks in the medical field to acting as an umbrella body for over 2,500 clients in a range of industries.
We pride ourselves on low staff turnover and high levels of competency – because by staying together for a long time, our expert team has been able to work on a wide range of DBS software and applications – including our in-house online DBS solution.
Originally acting as a registered body for DBS checks within the medical recruitment industry, we have grown considerably over the years – with our first large contract coming when we secured a contract to provide DBS checks for Torbay Council. This is a tender we’ve won again and again, most recently in 2010 when we were asked to handle the council’s DBS checks for another four years.
We now process DBS application forms for clients as diverse as schools to opticians, and will-writers to care homes. We tailor our service for each client, although we ensure that everyone we work with receives the same levels of security and professionalism.
United Medicare is a corporate member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), ISO 9001:2000 Certified for Quality Management, and have been ISO 27001 Security Audited. We’re also in the process of preparing for a CHECK/CLAS check and a HMG audit.
According to the DBS classification, an Umbrella Body (such as United Medicare) is a “Registered Body that provides other non-registered organisations with access to the Disclosure and Barring Service’s (DBS) range of services.”
That means that we’re well-placed and fully authorised to handle all the DBS needs of non-registered organisations across the UK. As we run a DBS specialist department, United Medicare is responsible for assisting and managing the DBS application processes for all existing and future staff of our non-registered clients.
In short, as an Umbrella Body, we’ll take care of all your DBS needs.
If your organisation has a requirement for less than 100 DBS checks each year, then the DBS state that you require the services of an Umbrella Body.
And if your organisation has a requirement for more than this number of checks, we recommend leaving it to the experts, so that we can handle everything for you quickly, easily and with a minimum of disruption to your business.
So no matter how many DBS checks you need, give us a call.
